Concept Statment

Create a list of all users that may visit your site (not from the WWW but those you’d invite).

Design studios, HR representatives, friends, family

What will each of those users want to see in order to enjoy their visit to your site?

Fast-loading, easy to navigate site show-casing my best design work, as well as a bit about my personality and work flow.

Name your intended audience (the person(s) you need to persuade.)

My intended audience is design firms in Seattle who are currently looking to hire a front-end web developer.

Describe what you need to inform and persuade them of:

  • Promote my work as a designer and web developer.
  • Goals of the site are to obtain a job with a creative, reputable design firm in Seattle.
  • My ultimate message/philosophy (about who you are):

Less is more.  Making the web a more beautiful place one site at a time.

  • What is the story you are telling?

I am a skilled front-end web developer with a knack for beautiful, simplistic design.

Concept Statement:

I want my portfolio site to be an interactive, easy-to-navigate experience for potential employers to use to get a sense for my design aesthetic and personality.  It will be a “one-page” website, where the user will scroll down to see the other “pages” or information.  This will make the site easy to navigate (as everything will be in one page) as well as a quick loading format for mobile usage.

I intend to use CSS3 animations to make the site interactive, and keep the user’s interest. Since the main interest of viewers to my site is for viewing my work and getting a sense of my design, I have that information visible from the landing page and quick to get to and see all of my work.  I plan to mainly focus on my web work, even though I also have a graphic design background (although this should be evident in my website designs), as I want a job where I am responsible for front-end development as well as design.

I want the viewer’s experience to be easy, sleek, and memorable.
